Using Varied Media in Your Blog Posts Matters!

Blogging with WordPress offers a wide range of advantages, not the least of which is how SEO-friendly this content management platform is compared to many competitors. Search engines love the functionality and basic layout of a WordPress website, but that doesn’t mean you can just toss up 400 words and act like you’re done! There are literally hundreds of factors that go into ranking one website over another, and that’s in addition to the fact that Google has confirmed years ago that it has human reviewers working on a consistent basis to also manually review sites and help decide where they should be ranked overall.

This shows just how important it is to make every single post as SEO-friendly as possible to get the results that you want to see. This includes pictures, videos, and even podcasts or recordings, if appropriate. First, there’s no reason every post shouldn’t have a high-quality photo. This is just blogging 101. A good picture helps with SEO and is part of a positive user experience for readers.

If you’re not including video, you’re missing out on some easy SEO points. Videos reduce bounce rate (good for SEO), shoot your average time on site per visitor through the roof (great for SEO), and help position you as an authority in your niche (also great for SEO).

Podcasts are another way to keep people on the page for a long period of time, while offering something different in the way of content. This won’t be appropriate for every page, but it can be another quality option.

Plain text with nothing else won’t rank you anymore – you need high quality media to go with that original content if you want to make the climb up the search engine rankings!
